Trailer Choice (7x14 Enclosed Cargo Trailer Camper Conversion Part #1)
7x14 Enclosed Cargo Trailer Camper Conversion (part 1: Trailer Choice)
1. Why I chose Enclosed Cargo Trailer for Camper Conversion
- Price
- Reliability
- Easy to build (rectangular box type)
- For use as base camp for off roading
2. Why I chose 7x14 instead of 6x12 which is one of the most popular size trailer
- can sleep on the cross so that it makes less space in length wise
- 6x12 trailer space is too small for my needs (shower, toilet, etc.)
- 7x16 trailer is little long for the off roading
3. Why I chose the option for one inch extra height (7')?
- I want to build upper cabinetry in both sides and widows for head clearance.
- Height is not matter for maneuverability but for aerodynamic
4. Why I chose the V-nose?
- V-nose has extra interior space
- But, V-nose do not have an enough space on the tongue area.
- I decided to have the option for extra 1' length of tongue for the space
5. Why I chose the option for narrow track?
- For standard 7x14 trailer, total width include the wheels is more than 8 foot wide. This could be the obstacle for the narrow road.
6. Why I chose the option for Torsion Axle instead of Leaf Axle?
- For the strength and better off roading
7. Why I chose the ramp door instead of 2 doors?
- I want to use the ramp door for the deck
- Another reason is to easy access the heavy items from the garage.
8. Why I chose the indigo blue color option?
- Of course I like the blue and the indigo blue colored aluminium is thicker than silver or white color (0.3 vs. 0.26)
9. Why I chose the tandem axle instead of single axle?
- the tandem axle can handle more weight compare the single axle (7000 lbs vs. 3500 lbs)
- It is safer when the tire get flat
- It helps the bouncing
